Stephen SetteDucati Photographer
Stephen SetteDucati’s love affair with Cape Cod spans a little more than half a century.
A resident of Wellfleet, Stephen’s understanding of light and darkness of the Outer Cape is an emotion that is rooted deep within his soul. It was during his schooling at the Art Institute of Boston in 1992 when the book, ‘Cape Light’, by Joel Meyerowitz and he crossed paths. It was then, that Stephen’s own interpretation of the Outer Cape started its life long journey.
The Outer Cape has always been a salvation of mind, body and spirit. Capturing the ever-changing feel, experience and emotion that alerts all of our senses is seen in Stephen’s images.
The night sky has always been a familiar back drop for Stephen in both still image and film. In 1998, he walked onto the Big Dig and began shooting it as a personal project, that turned into a 7-year epic. His ‘Boston Globe Best Seller’, The Big Dig at Night was published in 2001.
Stephen’s Milky Way Galaxy series captures a side of the Outer Cape that few experience. The lack of street lights and artificial lights make viewing the stars and planets of our galaxy a real treat for the senses. Cloudless summer nights when the moon is receding out of its waxing cycle are optimal conditions for Stephen’s images. All Milky Way Galaxy photographs are single ‘in-camera’ images.
Stephen uses Canon photographic and printing equipment and edits on a Mac based platform in Lightroom and Photoshop.
If you have a spectacular location of sand, sea or surf or a view (maybe from your deck, patio or favorite beach) that is free from town street lights or have an idea for a great image location please contact Stephen with the details.
